The Association of Professional Game Angling Instructors
in Ireland (APGAI Ireland) will demonstrate fly casting
on both days of the National Countrysports Fair.
This is Ireland's leading association for angling
instruction and made up of professional anglers from all
parts of the country.
Their services at the 2013 National Countrysports Fair are
completely free of charge and are part of our "Have-a
Go" initiative at Moira Demesne whereby we want visitors
to join in with the activities there, participate and
perhaps learn a new skill.
For the newcomer to the sport of fly fishing there is
something about casting a fly that can be off-putting.
Perhaps it's the lack of knowledge of the procedure, the
rod and line combination and probably a bit of mystique
there too!
At the National Countrysports
Fair all will be explained and whether you are new to
the sport, thinking about taking it up or have some
experience, the APGAI Ireland instructors can tailor
their session with you to match your experience level.
The casting classes will run on both days of the fair in
Moira Demesne and are completely
free of charge.
Even the complete beginner will be casting a
trout fly within minutes. For the more experienced fly
fishermen APGAI Ireland will demonstrate single-handed
trout fly casting and double-handed salmon fly casting.
We even have fly casting distance and accuracy
competitions for you to enter.
Other techniques being demonstrated at the fair are;
roll and overhead casting, shooting heads, double haul
casting and slack line casts.
