Terriers & Lurchers at the National Countrysports Fair
Terrier & Lurcher Events at Moira

Northern Ireland's biggest terrier and lurcher weekend will be at Moira Demesne over the weekend of 25th & 26th May 2013.  The terrier and lurcher events are sponsored the National Countrysports Fair, Charlie Keenan Outdoor and Sporting Dog.  The value of prize fund this year will again exceed £1,000.  The events are also Qualifiers for the Champion of Champions show at the Midland Game Fair in September.


Lurchers

The Gilford Terrier & Lurcher Club will be running all the lurcher events at the 2013 National Countrysports Fair at Moira Demesne. Lurcher and terrier events at the National Countrysports Fair have always been popular and well supported by county sports men and women who enjoy their dogs and the competitions we have lined up for them.

There are two days of competitions including lurcher and terrier showing classes, simulated racing, high jump and straight racing

Timetable Saturday 25th May
Simulated Racing - entries 10:00 until 11:00
Racing Starting 11.30am sharp
High Jump  entries 10:00 until 11:00
Start immediately after the Simulated Racing Finishes
Dog Showing - start appox. 13:00  
   
Timetable Sunday 26th  May
Straight Racing  - entries 11:00 until 12:00
Racing starts 12:30 sharp
Simulated racing entries from 10:30

Terriers

The terrier shows and racing events at the National Countrysports Fair are open to everyone with a terrier. These are really fun events to watch and to participate in.  Terrier enthusiasts from all over Ireland will be at the fair with dozens of different breeds of terriers from all parts of the British Isles.







The Terrier Showing classes for 2013 are:

Pups Under 12" Jack Russell Patterdale
Border Lakeland/fell cross Crossbred Working terrier
Pairs Veteran Native Irish breeds  
       
The all-new National Countrysports Fair Puppy Championship Final will be held after the four puppy classed are finisned
       
Strong Dogs
Pups Small Staffordshire Large Staffordshire  
English bull Working Wheaten terriers  

Entries will be taken on the days of the events.  Weight pulling will take place after the strong dog showing competitions.  If you would like to learn something about terriers we have included some background information for you here.
